Can I Sue for a Dog Bite Even if the Dog Has Never Bitten Before?

Under Maryland Code §3-1901, the owner of the dog is liable “for any injury, death, or loss to person or property that is caused by the dog, while the dog is running at large.” This applies unless the person was trespassing, attempting to commit a crime, or teasing, tormenting, abusing, or provoking the animal.
